DC Life: Belga Cafe and a White House Tour

The rain will begin tomorrow. Sandy is on her way. I'm not sure what to expect with this storm, but it reminds me of all of the damage done last year with Irene. Don't worry - I have water. I have food. And I have lots of grading to keep me busy.

While I plan ahead for Sandy, I'm also remembering a beautiful Saturday a few weeks ago, when Tom, and friend of ours, and I spend the afternoon together.

We stopped for a delicious lunch at Belga Cafe in DC, where I enjoyed a chorizo panini. Good panini, but very messy to eat. The three of us split their apple Belgian waffle. The waffle itself was very hard to cut through, but the taste of the waffle, apples, and whip cream together was amazing. I didn't want it to end.

We had tickets for a Fall Garden Tour at the White House after lunch. There were lots of people, lots of security, and lots of photos explaining which president planted which tree and when. Let's say, I had no idea what to expect going into the tour, but it was really neat to be so close to something so important in our country.
