Hello all! Hope you had a Merry Christmas. Tom and I are back in Vermont for the week and we spent Christmas day with both of our families. Have to say, Santa was very nice once again this year.
Three gifts in particular will benefit this blog....
Tom's bro got me Americolor food colors! Some of my favorite blog-bakers use these colors in their frostings and I have wanted to try them for years.
The second, from my bro, is the Hansons Marathon Method book! I have got to find out more about their plan after having success with it this fall.
Finally, Tom got me a super nice lens for my camera. I was NOT expecting that one at all! It's a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm 1:1.8G. SAY WHAT? I am not good with camera-lingo at all. But apparently it is going to be awesome for closeups of food and can still be used for everyday photos. Sadly, I damaged my only other lens two weeks ago. It works, but not well. It will be nice to play around with this new lens until I save up enough for a replacement lens.
In running news, I apparently have good luck with race lotteries (*knockonwood*). I get to run in the Cherry Blossom 10 miler in early April in DC!
It's back to the fudge making. I am on my fifth batch this year and there may be another one following this. I'll go for a run in a bit (yikes - it is 30 degrees colder here than what I've been running in in DC), then I get to meet up with Kat for lunch! We're expecting a snow storm starting this evening. I can't complain about not experiencing winter this year. Vermont is making sure I see it!
Hope you have a wonderful day!
Fun! I am sick right now so can't run at all - bummer! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteOh no Kayla! I hope you get better soon. I was out of commission for SO long because of a never ending cold. Hopefully you'll heal quickly now that you're on school vacation. Enjoy the break!
DeleteSorry we missed each other! :-( I'm already back in Massachusetts.
ReplyDeleteI, too, was shocked by the temperature difference. It's not usually so drastic! But it's been in the low 40's and, some days, low 50's down here. I went for a run through Milton and it was 28 degrees!!! Luckily, Jeff got me a nice, and fashionable if I may say so, running jacket for XMas so I was nice and warm.
Glad you're having a great holiday! :-) Stay safe!
I am so sorry too!!! I hope you had a great time in VT! That is awesome that you got a new jacket! It's going to be great to run with. I couldn't believe how warm I was this morning with mine, even though it was only 17 out. Enjoy the rest of your time off!! :)
DeleteI want to read the Hanson's book too. The whole training philosophy that they teach amazes me. Someday I am going to try their theory just to see if it really works.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting into the Cherry Blossom race! I know a couple of other people that got in as well.
Thanks Tasha! I never thought I would read a running/training book but I am learning a lot from it.
DeleteI just saw that Kayla got that book too! You girls have to tell me if it's worth it, lol! Vermont is so pretty in the winter (all year long actually)...super jealous but happy you spent the time with fam. My hubs is a Nikon freak so I'll have to tell him about your lens. Congrats on the lottery winning...maybe you should start playing the real lotto, lol! Have a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a good chunk into the book and am more of a believer in their plan because of it. I wish I knew more people who have tried it to hear about their experience with the plan. As for VT - it sure has been nice to be here for the week.
